Recap: Alexander Cougars vs. McEachern Indians
The Alexander Cougars and the McEachern Indians (ranked 59 and 13 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile match. Alexander opened the new year with a less-than-successful 58-46 loss to McEachern. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Alexander has scored all season.
Alexander lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jermaine Freeman, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. The match was Freeman's third in a row with at least ten points. Allen Stoddard was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds.
Alexander's defeat dropped their record down to 13-2. As for McEachern, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Alexander and East Paulding will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. East Paulding will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Alexander is ranked fourth). As for McEachern, they will be playing at home against Hillgrove at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
