Baseball Game Preview: Gladewater Bears vs. Arp Tigers

For the second straight game, Gladewater will face off against Arp. The Bears will challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gladewater will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Gladewater barely beat Arp the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears blew past the Tigers 13-2 on Tuesday. Considering the Bears have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sean Burke made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Preston Bohanon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Landen King was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Gladewater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arp only posted an OBP of .238.

Gladewater's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Arp, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-13-1 record.
