Softball Recap: Brawley Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Brawley entered their tilt with Holtville on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 12-2 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-0 last Tuesday.

Arriana Garcia spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Isabella Yescas was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caitlyn Padilla, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Brawley's win bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Holtville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.

Brawley will square off against Mt. Carmel at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Holtville, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Central at 6:30 p.m. on the 29th.
