Baseball Game Preview: Cox Falcons vs. Independence

The Cox Falcons will face off against Independence at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The last three games Cox has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Cox is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Maury 5-4.

Meanwhile, Independence faced Godwin in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Independence blew past Godwin 11-1. Considering Independence has won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win (which was Independence's third in a row) raised their record to 14-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cox, their win bumped their record up to 21-4.

Cox took their victory against Independence when the teams last played back in June of 2023 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will Independence turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
