Volleyball Recap: Marquette Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Blue Valley West

Marquette is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Blue Valley West. The Mustangs fell 2-0 to the Jaguars. The Mustangs just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Teagan Pocius paced Marquette's offense, picking up nine kills. Pocius got some help from Maggie Smith and her five assists. Pocius also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Kate McLean, each putting up two.

Marquette's defeat dropped their record down to 15-15. As for Blue Valley West, their victory bumped their record up to 24-4.

Marquette wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against St. Dominic on the 13th. As for Blue Valley West, they will take on Shawnee Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
