Softball Recap: Paducah Tilghman Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mayfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Paducah Tilghman). They never let the Mayfield Cardinals get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Tuesday. The Blue Tornado might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Mia Bobbitt was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Paducah Tilghman got a massive performance out of Hailey Mooney, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Sophie Key, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Paducah Tilghman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .739. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Paducah Tilghman's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mayfield, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Paducah Tilghman beat the Cardinals by a score of 15-0 later that day.
