Volleyball Recap: Shawano Community's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

While Shawano Community's win against Merrill wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bluejays 3-2.

Shawano Community took Merrill into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 22-25, 26-24, 25-23, 22-25, 16-14.

When it comes to explaining why Merrill lost on Thursday, don't look at Avery Hoock. Despite the final result, she had 14 digs and two aces. Hoock has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gabby Wheeler, who had ten digs and two aces.

Shawano Community's win ended a four-match drought at home and bumped them up to 10-17. As for Merrill, they moved to 12-11 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Shawano Community will venture away from home to challenge Green Bay East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Merrill, they will head out to square off against Medford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
