Basketball Recap: Cleveland Comes Up Short

Cleveland lost against Bristow back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cleveland Tigers took a 67-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bristow Pirates. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Bristow's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tj Wilson led the charge by putting up 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight steals. Bristow is 2-1 when Wilson posts three or more steals, but 3-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayt Jackson, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 17 points and four steals.

Cleveland has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games. As for Bristow, their record is now 5-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cleveland will square off against Perkins-Tryon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bristow, they will take on Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
