Baseball Recap: Notre Dame Takes a Loss

North Haven hit Notre Dame with a five-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Green Knights fell just short of the Nighthawks by a score of 8-7. The Green Knights were not able to make up for their loss to the Nighthawks from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

Notre Dame got a good showing from Nico Bonilla, who struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Bonilla has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Zack Lawruszko made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Jackson Burr was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Notre Dame has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for North Haven, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Notre Dame will welcome Lyman Hall at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Green Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Haven, they will host Amity Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
