Basketball Recap: South Gwinnett Takes a Loss

After flying high against Cristo Rey Atlanta last Friday, South Gwinnett came back down to earth. The South Gwinnett Comets lost to the Grovetown Warriors at home by a 51-37 margin on Tuesday. The matchup marked the Comets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

It was another big night for Asunti Porter, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 26 points for Grovetown. That makes it three consecutive games in which Porter has scored at least a third of Grovetown's points. McKenna Middleton was another key player, going 6 for 13 on her way to 13 points.

South Gwinnett has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Grovetown, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

South Gwinnett will venture away from home to square off against Archer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Archer will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something South Gwinnett surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grovetown, they will host Grayson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
