Basketball Game Preview: Tivy Antlers vs. Smithson Valley Rangers

The Tivy Antlers will face off against the Smithson Valley Rangers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Smithson Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Tivy, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Tivy strolled past Veterans Memorial with points to spare, taking the game 58-39. Given the Antlers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Patriots are ranked 780th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Smithson Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 69-36 defeat at the hands of Wagner.

Cyanna Cavazos was Smithson Valley's leading scorer, having posted nine points.

Tivy's win bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Smithson Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 9-22.

Everything went Tivy's way against Smithson Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Tivy made off with a 63-41 victory. Does Tivy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Smithson Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
