Basketball Recap: Steele Falls Short of Brennan in the Playoffs

Steele and Brennan squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Steele had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Brennan Bears, falling 68-39. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Bears are ranked third).

Steele lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Joshua Rice, who posted 12 points and six boards. Dre Anthony was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Kingston Flemings was his usual excellent self, going 13-for-18 en route to 29 points and six rebounds for Brennan. Flemings' big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Donovan Criss, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 14 points.

The loss snapped Steele's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 32-6 record. As for Brennan, the win was the 22nd in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 33-2.

Steele does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brennan, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-57 defeat against Bellaire on the 4th.
