Baseball Recap: Newcomerstown Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

Newcomerstown hadn't done well against Conotton Valley recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Trojans walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Rockets. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 16-4 win the Rockets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Bo Black spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Zane Popadak and Conner Somogye did most of the damage at the plate: Popadak went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Somogye went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Newcomerstown has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Conotton Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Newcomerstown has already played their next contest (against Dover), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
