Baseball Game Preview: Summit Country Day Silver Knights vs. Norwood Indians

For the second straight game, Summit Country Day will face off against Norwood. The Silver Knights will challenge the Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Summit Country Day took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Norwood get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Silver Knights not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 14-2).

Keller Minton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Summit Country Day is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise. Minton was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Rylan Gentry was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Summit Country Day is undefeated when Gentry posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jack Phillabaum, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Summit Country Day hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Summit Country Day has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Norwood, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
