Cleveland dropped their record down to 16-13 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Walker Valley Mustangs by a score of 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Landri Nelson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Mason, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
As for Walker Valley, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 28-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.25 runs across that stretch.
On Walker Valley's side, Olivia Presswood was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Presswood has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Amy Benson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Davenport, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As of now, neither Cleveland nor Walker Valley have any future games scheduled.
