Softball Recap: Old Town Coyotes vs. Hermon Hawks
Old Town had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They suffered a tough 8-1 defeat at the hands of the Hermon Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Old Town of the 4-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.
For Hermon's part, Braelynn Wilcox made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Wilcox was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Dean, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Hermon pushed their record up to 2-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
