Baseball Recap: Smithsburg Starts off Right with Win over Governor Thomas Johnson

Smithsburg had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Governor Thomas Johnson Patriots on Friday.

Mason Oates was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Gavin Ramarge, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Governor Thomas Johnson's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Smithsburg will welcome Martinsburg at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Governor Thomas Johnson, they will head out on the road to face off against North Hagerstown at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
