Baseball Game Preview: Pentucket Regional vs. Newburyport Clippers

Pentucket Regional will venture away from home to challenge the Newburyport Clippers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Pentucket Regional got the win against Amesbury by a conclusive 8-1. Pentucket Regional hasn't had any issues with Amesbury recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Newburyport was able to grind out a solid win over Manchester Essex on Tuesday, taking the game 5-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Clippers.

Evan Luekens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jack Oreal was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Ray Arcand also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.

Pentucket Regional's record now sits at 5-7. As for Newburyport, their record is now 6-4.

Pentucket Regional came up short against Newburyport when the teams last played on April 9th, falling 5-0. Can Pentucket Regional avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
