Softball Recap: Riverdale Country Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Riverdale Country had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Chapin a 20-0 shutout. Considering the Falcons have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Emily Van made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Riverdale Country got a massive performance out of Sammi Clyman, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was Clyman's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Leyla Kaya, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.

Riverdale Country always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Riverdale Country now has a winning record of 4-3.

Looking ahead, Riverdale Country will host Dalton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chapin, they will square off against Nightingale-Bamford at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
