Baseball Game Preview: Moon Valley Rockets vs. Greenway Demons

The Moon Valley Rockets are taking a road trip to square off against the Greenway Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Moon Valley has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with nine straight losses, while Greenway will come in with four straight victories.

Moon Valley came up short against Mingus on Friday, falling 8-1.

Moon Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Crystian Norstrom, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Greenway and Tempe meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Demons' pitchers stepped up to hand the Buffaloes an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Demons have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Greenway let Carlos Toscano and Dylan Archuleta run wild. Toscano went 1-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs, while Archuleta scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3. Archuleta has become a key player for Greenway: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise. Thaddeus Newman was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Greenway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Moon Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Greenway, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Moon Valley suffered a grim 17-6 defeat to Greenway in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
