Volleyball Recap: Westlake Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Westlake had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Pleasant Grove on Thursday. The Thunder were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Vikings. The Thunder not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18th.

Westlake not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Pleasant Grove to exactly 18 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-18, 25-18.

Westlake was led to victory by Talon Schank and Rigden Hansen. Schank had 11 digs and two aces, while Hansen had nine digs. That's the most aces Schank has posted over his last six matchups.

They weren't the only good server: Westlake was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Westlake's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-5. As for Pleasant Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
