Basketball Game Preview: Dodge City Demons vs. Cheney Cardinals

The Dodge City Demons will take on the Cheney Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Dodge City is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since January 2, 2024 last Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Garden Plain, sneaking past 66-63. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Demons.

Meanwhile, Cheney put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Independent, posting an 85-21 win. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Panthers are ranked 323rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cheney's victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Dodge City, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
