Soccer Game Preview: Abingdon vs. Gate City

The Abingdon Falcons will face off against the Gate City Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Abingdon's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Central Wise with a sharp 8-0 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Abingdon considering their one-goal performance the match before.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gate City, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past Union 7-0 on Friday. Gate City haven't had any issues with Union recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Gate City's offense was hitting Union from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Walker Hillman led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Gate City's win bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Abingdon, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4-1.
