Baseball Recap: Grantsville's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Grantsville waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 18-5 margin over the Kearns Cougars. This was payback for the Cowboys, who suffered a 5-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Payton Cummings made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Cummings was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Grantsville got a massive performance out of Jordan Fawson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Fawson has become a key player for the Cowboys: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Easton Webb was another key player, scoring three runs while going 4-for-5.

The victory got Grantsville back to even at 7-7. As for Kearns, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-11.

Coming up, Grantsville will challenge Ogden at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kearns, they will square off against Taylorsville at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
