Volleyball Recap: Castle View Falls Short Against Ranked Douglas County

Castle View faced Douglas County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Sabercats lost 3-0 to the Huskies. The Sabercats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Castle View took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-19, 25-23.

Daniel Bockman paced Castle View's offense, picking up seven kills. Bockman were helped by Rowan Shaughnessy and Austin Keathley, who contributed seven assists each. Bockman also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Talus Frederick, racking up two apiece.

Among those leading the charge was Adriano Padilla, who had 13 digs. That's the most digs he has posted over his last six matches.

Castle View has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Douglas County, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-1.

Coming up, Castle View will take on Regis Groff in a tournament on Saturday. As for Douglas County, they will welcome Mountain Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
