Softball Recap: Jamestown's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

Jamestown dropped their record down to 9-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Grove City Eagles by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Muskies have suffered since April 25, 2024.

Miranda Biles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jamestown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kinlie Kirila, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Grove City, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Grove City's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Taylor Thompson gave up a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

Coincidentally, Jamestown and Grove City will both be playing Oil City the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Oilers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Muskies will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
