Softball Recap: Charles J. Colgan Has No Trouble Against Forest Park

Charles J. Colgan won the last time they faced Forest Park and things went their way on Friday too. Charles J. Colgan put the hurt on Forest Park with a sharp 12-3 win. With that victory, the Sharks brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Dorsey Grose spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jordyn Hern and Kayli Lamboy did most of the damage at the plate: Hern scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Lamboy scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Lamboy a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Alecia McCray, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Charles J. Colgan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Forest Park, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Charles J. Colgan and Forest Park will both be playing Gar-Field the next time they take the field. Forest Park will host Gar-Field at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Charles J. Colgan will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
