Baseball Recap: Newkirk Has No Trouble Against Cleveland

Newkirk made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cleveland, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Newkirk put the hurt on Cleveland with a sharp 10-2 victory on Saturday. Newkirk might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Lane Stone was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Newkirk let Grady Wood and Kyson Thiel run wild. Wood scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Thiel scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Newkirk's win bumped their record up to 7-4-1. As for Cleveland, they dropped their record down to 6-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
