Softball Recap: Steilacoom Sentinels vs. Washington Patriots
Steilacoom had lost seven straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-15 to make it eight. They lost 11-1 to the Washington Patriots. Having soared to a lofty 25 runs in the game before, the Sentinels couldn't push the score so high this time.
As for Washington, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Considering they have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Washington's part, Steve-Rae Garcia-Zamora was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Garcia-Zamora has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Dee Moore was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Zoe Garcia-Zamora was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As of now, neither Steilacoom nor Washington have any future games scheduled.
