Baseball Recap: Antioch Comes Up Short

Antioch came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 10-3 to the Wauconda Bulldogs. The Sequoits haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Ben Clausen was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Evan Schmidt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Nathan Yeager was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Antioch's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5-1. As for Wauconda, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

While Antioch had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
