Football Game Preview: Pocono Mountain West Panthers vs. Pleasant Valley Bears

The Pocono Mountain West Panthers will face off against the Pleasant Valley Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Pocono Mountain West, who comes in off a win.

Pocono Mountain West is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past East Stroudsburg South 49-26 on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the Panthers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Christian Stiehler was his usual excellent self, rushing for 269 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 124.5 rushing yards per game.

Stiehler was just one part of a punishing run game: Pocono Mountain West was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 269 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Pleasant Valley's offense. They were dealt a 28-0 defeat at the hands of Pocono Mountain East on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 56 points in the game before, the Bears' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Pleasant Valley's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-5. As for Pocono Mountain West, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Pocono Mountain West didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Pleasant Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 17-12 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
