Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Warren Central

Warren Central proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lawrence Central Bears 7-5. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 8-7 win the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Jordyn Dever spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Kira Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Natalie Hiliard was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

The victory (which was Warren Central's third in a row) raised their record to 6-16. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Lawrence Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Warren Central is set to square off against their familiar foe North Central at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lawrence Central will take on rival Lawrence North at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
