Baseball Recap: Maritime Academy Charter Falls to Philadelphia Performing Arts in First Game of Season

Maritime Academy Charter unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Philadelphia Performing Arts Knight on Friday. The Seadogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knight from their previous meeting back in March of 2016.

Yariel Santiago-Campos was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernando Figueroa, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Maritime Academy Charter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-5 loss against String Theory on the 14th. As for Philadelphia Performing Arts, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-6 defeat against First Philadelphia Prep on the 18th.
