Baseball Game Preview: Summit Shasta Black Bears vs. KIPP San Jose Collegiate Wolfpack

The Summit Shasta Black Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the KIPP San Jose Collegiate Wolfpack at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Summit Shasta and 15 for KIPP San Jose Collegiate dating back to last season.

Summit Shasta is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 8, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against Design Tech, falling 12-6.

Benedict Del Rosario made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Summit Shasta's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 5-10 when he doesn't). Milo Jung was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for KIPP San Jose Collegiate's offense. They lost 15-0 to More on Friday.

Summit Shasta now has a losing record of 11-12. As for KIPP San Jose Collegiate, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Summit Shasta took their win against KIPP San Jose Collegiate when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 27-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Black Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
