Baseball Recap: Natchez Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Natchez, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 10-4 margin over the Raymond Rangers on Wednesday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jamarius Bell made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chris Sewell, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Mason Bouldin also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Natchez's record now sits at 4-2. As for Raymond, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Natchez will host Cathedral at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cathedral's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Natchez's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Raymond, they will venture away from home to take on Port Gibson at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
