Football Recap: Vicksburg Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Friday. Vicksburg were just a hair shy of victory and fell 32-31 to Otsego. Vicksburg was up 14-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

When it comes to explaining why Vicksburg lost, don't look at Travis Hostetler. Despite the final result, he picked up 151 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 63 yards and one TD.

Lane Blanchard went supernova For Otsego., rushing for 181 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.

The loss snapped Vicksburg's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-2 record. As for Otsego, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Vicksburg will take on Niles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' defense has only allowed 10.8 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Otsego, they will face off against Paw Paw at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Wolves will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
