Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Addison Lang and Sawyer Straley Lead Marist to Victory

Marist entered their tilt with Northview on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Titans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 two weeks ago.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Marist took every set by at least 16 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-9, 25-8.

Leading Marist to victory were Sawyer Straley and Addison Lang. Straley had ten aces and four digs, while Lang had seven digs and four aces. Those ten aces gave Straley a new career-high. Grace Kipers was another key player, getting 12 assists and three digs.

They weren't the only good servers: Marist was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive contests.

Marist's victory bumped their record up to 33-6. As for Northview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-20 record this season.

Marist didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against St. Pius X Catholic on the 9th. As for Northview, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Druid Hills on the 9th.
