Baseball Recap: Providence Grove Patriots vs. Randleman Tigers
Providence Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Randleman Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 on April 8th.
Andrew Thomas was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Providence Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Randleman, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4.
Looking ahead, Providence Grove will head out on the road to square off against Eastern Randolph at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Randleman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
