Basketball Recap: Jaida Steele Key Part of a Team Effort in Vikings Win

Vandalia Christian had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 37-20 win over the Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Vandalia Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaida Steele, who posted 15 points. Steele's morning made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Piper Martin was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Despite the loss, Asheboro Hybrid Academy had strong showings from Kadence Voncannon, who put up three points and eight rebounds, and Jacie Whitt, who had six points.

Vandalia Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vandalia Christian will host Faith Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vandalia Christian is facing Faith Christian at the right time seeing as Faith Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Davidson at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
