Wayne has gone 10-0 against Escalante recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wayne Badgers will look to defend their home court against the Escalante Moquis at 7:00 p.m.

Last Saturday, Wayne opened the new year with a less-than-successful 51-39 loss to South Sevier. While losing is never fun, the Badgers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Rams are ranked 33rd).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Blake Peterson, who posted eight points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Robins, who put up ten points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Escalante posted their biggest victory since January 20, 2024 back in December of 2024. They breezed by Lund to the tune of 49-19.

Escalante's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Wayne, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Wayne was able to grind out a solid victory over Escalante when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 56-44. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Escalante's Jaxen Cottam, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Wayne still be able to contain Cottam? There's only one way to find out.
