League recap: Johnstown-Monroe tops Fredericktown to extend winning streak

Mid-Buckeye recap Oct. 3, 2012

Johnstown-Monroe extended the longest winning streak in Mid-Buckeye this week by beating Fredericktown, 14-0. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

East Knox was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs defeated Northridge 20-0.

Cody Farley was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 226 yards on 37 carries as Johnstown-Monroe topped the Freddies. Teammate Adam Carter added to the ground attack by rushing for 66 yards.

The Vikings' Bryant Garee and Chase Hess have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Mid-Buckeye in both passing and receiving yards. Garee has thrown for 236 yards this season, while Hess, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 13 catches for 175 yards. Michael Carter's team's Farley leads the league in rushing yards with 780.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Northridge takes on Danville. Darby Riley's team is currently in fifth, while the Blue Devils are in second.

Loudonville and Utica played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Loudonville eventually emerging with a 17-14 victory.
