Volleyball Game Preview: Maplewood Tigers vs. Cochranton Cardinals

Maplewood hasn't had much luck against Cochranton recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Tigers will host the Cardinals at 7:15 p.m.

Maplewood is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Meadville, falling 3-0.

While Maplewood was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Meadville's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-13, 25-18.

Cochranton not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 9, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on Conneaut Area with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23, 28-26.

Maplewood's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Cochranton, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-7.

Maplewood might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Cochranton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
