Softball Recap: Naugatuck Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oxford, Naugatuck was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Torrington Raiders. The victory continues a trend for the Greyhounds in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won six in a row.

Torrington's batters probably weren't too happy with Leah Chatfield, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 15 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Chatfield has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

Naugatuck's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Torrington, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Naugatuck will square off against rival Kennedy at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Torrington is set to face off against their familiar foe Oxford at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders have a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while the Wolverines will come in with six straight victories.
