Basketball Recap: Gresham Community Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Three Lakes/Phelps, Gresham Community was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They managed a 40-35 victory over the Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran Blazers. The Wildcats' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Gresham Community's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alivia Perez, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards. The Wildcats are 3-1 when Perez posts ten or more rebounds, but 3-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Cerveny, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

With the victory, Gresham Community broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-12. As for Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gresham Community will square off against Gillett at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran, they will challenge Southern Door at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
