Soccer Game Preview: Durango vs. Palisade

The Durango Demons will face off against the Palisade Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Palisade will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Durango extended their winning streak to six on Saturday. The Demons' defense stepped up to hand Grand Junction Central a 10-0 shutout. Bella Saren was a massive factor in the win as she booted in four goals all by herself.

Durango used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Grand Junction Central. Three players hit the pitch for the first time this season: Hannah Hyder, Megan Burns, and Alyza Griego. Griego made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Palisade made sure to put some goals up on the board against Grand Junction Central on Friday. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 7-0 win. The result kept Palisade happy, as they haven't lost a game since March 27th.

Durango's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those three matches. As for Palisade, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2-2.

Everything went Durango's way against Palisade when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Durango made off with a 4-0 win. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
