Softball Game Preview: William Byrd Terriers vs. Franklin County Eagles

William Byrd hasn't had much luck against Franklin County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Terriers will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. William Byrd is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

William Byrd will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Lord Botetourt, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Terriers walked away with a 5-1 win over the Cavaliers on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Terriers.

Addison Clark made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Clark was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Ryleigh Grubb was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Sydney Tuck, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Franklin County challenged Staunton River on Friday. The Eagles blew past the Golden Eagles 9-1. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Franklin County's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for William Byrd, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
