Softball Recap: Manteca Buffaloes vs. Mountain House Mustangs
There's no place like home for Manteca, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Mountain House Mustangs 6-5. The Buffaloes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs on Thursday, too.
Riley Ward was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base.
In other pitching news, Manteca got a great performance from Isabel Tonna as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Tonna has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Lauren Moncada, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Jayana Dias also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Manteca's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Mountain House, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-3 record.
Manteca wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-2 win against Oakdale on the 2nd. As for Mountain House, they have also already played their next match, an 8-0 victory against East Union on the 8th.
