Softball Recap: Vinton County Vikings vs. Eastern Eagles
Vinton County had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-9 to make it nine. They came up short against the Eastern Eagles, falling 11-5. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 7-4.
As for Eastern, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The result was nothing new for Eastern, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
For Eastern's part, they got a massive performance out of Rylie White 2027, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple was White 2027's first of the season. Emma Putman 2025 was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Looking ahead, Vinton County will head out on the road to face off against Warren at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastern, they will be playing at home against River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
