Baseball Recap: Frankfort Comes Up Short

Frankfort fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Hoover on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 5-4. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Rhett Sensabaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Blake Jacobs was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Frankfort is 6-1 when Jacobs posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

Frankfort dropped their record down to 10-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hoover, they moved to 8-8 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frankfort will take on Berkeley Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hoover, they will challenge Sissonville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
