Recap: Muncie Burris Owls vs. Wapahani Raiders

This season hasn't been kind to the Muncie Burris Owls, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They were outmatched by Wapahani on the road and fell 71-23. Muncie Burris has not had much luck with Wapahani recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Muncie Burris lost on Monday, one person who can't be blamed is Layliana El Deeb. Despite the final result, she scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds. El Deeb continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Muncie Burris struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Wapahani pulled down 14.

Wapahani found their leader in underclassman Emily Luce, who scored 15 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals. Luce is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emilee Thompson, who scored 6 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.

Muncie Burris bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.3 points per game. As for Wapahani, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Muncie Burris will be playing at home against Southern Wells at 7:30 p.m. on November 29th. As for Wapahani, they will head out on the road to face off against Eastern Hancock at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Eastern Hancock is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
